Villa Wedding in the Hills

This past weekend, the Weddings Via Val team had the pleasure of celebrating the marriage of a lovely Dutch couple in Catalonia alongside 85 of their closest friends and family from Holland.

The pre-wedding event took place at an intimate beach bar in Sitges where guests were able to relax, soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere, sip cocktails, and enjoy some authentic cuisine.

The ceremony took place at a quaint villa up in the hills above Sitges where the bride and groom, along with some of their guests, stayed in the days leading up to the wedding. Once the guests arrived, they were greeted by tall glasses of lemonade and an exceptional view of the sea in the distance. The ceremony came together almost effortlessly with beautiful floral and seating arrangements on the upper deck of the villa.
After the ceremony, guests were escorted down to the aperitif where they enjoyed finger-food and cocktails around the pool during the time leading up to the main meal. Later, they were taken to the main event area where food and drinks were served alongside impressive table arrangements.

At the villa, guests were able to enjoy views overlooking the pool and the city below while listening to music performed by a live band, and later in the evening, a DJ. Overall, the wedding was a great success and we wish the couple all the best in their future!

Beach Ceremonies

With more and more couples wishing to say “I do” with their feet in the sand, Weddings Via Val have been researching where in Barcelona it is actually possible to host wedding ceremonies on the beach. Here are our top three Barcelona Beach Wedding venues:

GARRAF COAST: We can organize special permission for you to host your ceremony at the cove below this picturesque setting. Also enjoy the apaeritif on the sand and follow with dinner and dancing with breathtaking views of the sea.

Cala Morisca

COSTA BRAVA: Get married at the beach at this resort hotel straight out of a scene from “Dirty Dancing” complete with winding paths, tennis courts, pools, spa and activities. The hotel is located on a hill over this cove on which you can tie the knot.

Santa Marta

COSTA DORADA: This hotel privatizes part of the beach for you using palm trees and torches to create a beautifully romantic beach setting, after which you can enjoy cava, cocktails and even dinner until midnight. Dancing can be followed in the hotel’s secret garden nite-club.

New Beach Club

Even on a cold November’s day it was a real treat to visit this new beach club on the beautiful Catalan coastline. The sun was shinning so much that I had to squint my eyes and wished I had brought my sunglasses rather than my gloves! The new owners have taken what an old restaurant and made it very, very cool! You almost feel like you are on a boat as nothing but a railing separates you and the water. At just 40 minutes from Barcelona city and just a stone’s throw from the local town, and with an unbeatable coastal setting, I am confident that this will be the place to be in 2014.  This venue would not only work for a cool informal wedding, it would also be ideal for a get-together of all the weddings guests the night before the wedding for drinks, finger food and even dancing in on one of the private decks or indeed a paella lunch for everyone the dayafter the wedding.

Vivero

I Love November!

No weddings allows time to research new venues and sample new restaurants for soon-to-be-wed-couples. Today I visited the most beautiful rustic farmhouse in a tiny village just 40 minutes from the city.

With 12 onsite tastefully decorated spacious bedrooms and amazing views it is the ideal venue for a wonderfully informal wedding of up to 60 people. I took advantage of the visit to check out the local church and chat to the Town Hall about the formalities.

A definite new venue for Weddings Via Val. Finished the day with delicious tapas and wine back in Barcelona city at Cervesería Catalana which never fails to deliver on taste and atmosphere.
